CopperCore
CTO & Cofounder · 2024 – Present
CopperCore is modern operations software for the commercial fishing and seafood wholesale industry — an industry that runs on spreadsheets, paper invoices, and decades of tribal knowledge. We're building the first software platform purpose-built for how fish actually moves from boat to buyer.
The Problem
Seafood wholesale is brutal. Inventory turns over in hours, prices move daily, the catch composition is unpredictable, and most operators are running their entire business on phone calls, faxes, and spreadsheets that haven't fundamentally changed in 30 years. Generic ERP tools don't fit the workflow. Off-the-shelf inventory software doesn't handle the realities of thin-fish margins, lot tracking, or species-grade pricing. The result: margin loss, regulatory headaches, and operators who can't scale even when demand is there.
What We're Building
We're building the operating system for a seafood wholesaler — inventory, ordering, customer pricing, invoicing, payments, and traceability — designed around the realities of the industry rather than retrofitted from a generic platform. Every feature is built with input from real operators who've run businesses in this space for decades.
First Customer
Our first customer is a multi-generational New England seafood wholesaler doing eight figures of annual GMV. We're live on a GMV-based contract — we get paid as a function of the volume our software helps them move, which keeps us honest about the value we're actually delivering.
Why This Matters
Commercial fishing and seafood is a roughly $200B global industry that's been underserved by software for a generation. The operators are sharp, the problems are real, and the willingness to adopt better tools is there once the software actually fits the workflow. This is exactly the kind of "quiet" vertical where the right product can become essential infrastructure.
