RepAlign is a civic engagement social media platform led by John Goncalves, a Providence city councilman. I joined as Tech Lead in October 2025 to run the engineering build. The product's goal: shrink the distance between elected officials and the people they represent, especially at the local level where most consequential governance actually happens.
What It Does
RepAlign helps citizens stay informed and get involved in local politics:
- Track your representatives — see their voting records, sponsored bills, and positions on issues that matter to you
- Follow the money — understand who's funding your elected officials through campaign contributor data
- Take action — discover volunteer events, sign petitions, share news articles, and join discussions with other engaged citizens
The platform combines congressional data with a social feed, making civic engagement as accessible as scrolling through any other app.
